Halloween Gallery: Spooky Boy Meets Creepypasta

 

This was just a short intro to an illustrated podcast presentation about Creepypasta (another class project). I thought Halloween night would be a good time to share it, and I always like to post a little something on Halloween.

    This was another class project, in this case my film-sound final. As such my assignment was to create all of the sound effects and ambiance myself (I even used bird-calls for the dinosaur sounds). As such, between that and the live-action short (my videography final) that was due the same day, the animation is kinda rough and not as good was "Wyrd Sisters" was. But I needed to meet my deadline and the assignment was about sound, and I think it's a fun idea. Basically, it randomly occurred to me one day that with their large size and stubby arms, a T-Rex would make a horrible waiter, so I thought I'd make a cartoon out of it. So I hope everyone enjoys it.

Abduct Me! (Live action short)

 

This was my final for Videography class this semester. I wasn't allowed to do a fully animated short this time, so I came up with a live-action short involving some CG shots and a CG character. It's about an alien who comes to Earth and finds a crazy UFO nut who's desperate to be abducted. I often joke about how if aliens are really abducting people, maybe I wouldn't mind that because things can be pretty terrible here. At the same time, who's to say things are any better on any other planet, and I'd hate to give up on Earth, so I decided this would be a fun idea to explore. Please enjoy!

Wyrd Sisters (New Animated Short)

 

This was my project for Videography class and was part of an omnibus film of Shakespeare homages. I decided for my segment I wanted a sci-fi retelling of the witch scene from Macbeth, trading in medieval Scotland for a futuristic alien world. I left a lot of "the bard's" dialogue in tact, but I also added original content to try to make it its own story. I hope you enjoy.

All the modeling and 3D animation was done in Blender 2.93 (except the human-like characters started out in MakeHuman).

The characters are wearing my custom toon-shaders, hand-drawn textures, and various ink-lining techniques. Many of the background textures came from textures.com.

Editing was done in Adobe Premere Pro, and the opening text crawl and 2D "prophecy" sequence were done in Smith Micro Anime Studio Pro.
