About

Studio Snowlion is the name of my one-person animation and comic studio. Right now, it's mostly short student films and a few comic exerpts, but soon I hope to create animation, illustration, and comics in various styles and aimed at differing age groups. I have a BFA in "Film and Media Arts" from Temple University in the "Media Arts" concentration, and I hope to put that to good use!

I usually use Blender to create my animation, with Krita used to make texture maps. I tend to use toon-shaded (cel-shaded) characters as I really like the look it gives. I feel it's the best of both worlds between hand-drawn and conventional CG graphics. Though I also know how to animate in 2-D with programs like Flash, Krita, and Photoshop. And I'm even starting to learn Blender's "Grease Pencil" tools.

For still images and comics, I usually draw them by hand on paper in pencil, then ink them using brush-tip pens. Then, I scan them so I can color them in Krita or GIMP. I use both the touchscreen on my Lenovo IdeaPad laptop and a Wacom Tablet for digital coloring if anyone's curious.

Artist's Statement

If I have a goal in mind, it's to tell stories in a visually appealing way and to share my imagination with the world. If I can entertain people with my stories and images, and if I can create characters that people can care about, then I've succeeded in my artistic goals. That's about as much of an "artistic statement" as I can honestly make.

I also really love tea!
As for me, I'm just a fun nerdy guy with a lifelong love of animation and comics. I consider myself friendly. I'm a Buddhist. I don't smoke. I rarely drink. My favourite foods are Pizza, Curry, Sushi, and Chocolate. And I love animals (especially cats).
