Halloween Gallery: CGI Ghost

For my other Halloween Gallery entry this year, I wanted to do an animated CGI clip of a Ghost flying though a graveyard. Unfortunately, health problems kinda slowed me down this year, and I didn't have enough time to animate and render it properly (but I oughtta have it ready by next year).

So, instead, I just rendered a still from it. Now, it's still a work in progress, but you can see where I'm going with it. Look at it as a preview, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Halloween Gallery: Medusa

Glad I managed to get a new Halloween Gallery picture done this year. This one features the mythological terror, Medusa, so hideous that to see her turns a person to stone! I decided to depict her coming to terms with her own frightful appearance (a curse from the gods for her vanity), so really the horror in this picture is her own.

I hope to have one more Halloween entry up before the big day (or maybe slightly afterward) so until then, Happy Halloween!

I was really happy to finally be able to advertise my work, and I'm not sure I know any ad company that I can trust like that (though, I guess I'll have to shop around).

I'm going to miss working with them, and having the use of their services.

I know I've been a little quiet these past few weeks, but I've got big things in the works and I'm ready to give everyone a peak. I don't want to say much about this project yet, but I'd like to share a bit of it's character concept art.

Convention Announcement.

Hello everyone. I'll just use this week's post to announce that I'll have a table at the upcoming OooWee Mini Con. On June 2nd at the Harrisburg Mall  where I'll be selling artprints, and copies of Amusing Tales, as well as other goodies. Come on by!

Secret Origin of Captain Super Atomic Man (Videocomic)

This is a little experiment of mine. I wanted to make a "Motion comic" that wasn't just a slide-show with voice acting (which is neither "motion" nor "comic").

Hopefully, by retaining the individual panel shapes, and animating the faces, this videocomic format will be more watchable and a better hybrid of comics and animation than many I've seen.

I think I still prefer a regular comic, but this is another way to get my work out there, and give people a chance to voice my characters (I'm still looking for voice actors, you know).

Admittedly, the comic itself isn't my best drawn (I was rushing to meet a deadline and got a little sloppy), but I really like my gags in it. You can find this story and other (better drawn) comics of mine in "Amusing Tales" available here.

Another Test Animation (Spooky Boy from Crackergeist)

Yet another test animation, this time it's one I did years ago for my short, Crackergeist. It's a walking and expressions test (I like to do those when I build a character model), but it's also an experiment in Blender's cloth simulation.

The cloth sim worked well enough in the animation tests, but (as you may have noticed) I couldn't get it to work in the actual film. His shirt kept sliding off his body or just falling apart.

Playing With Fire (Terrible comic from my past)

I was digging back in my archives from Way back in I guess about 2003 or 2004 or so. And, I found this ten-page short story I created to submit to the legendary Heavy Metal Magazine. And honestly, it's awful!

My drawing skills just weren't "there" yet (not much knowledge of perspective), the writing was juvenile, and I was trying to draw in a "Heavy Metal-ish" style that I just didn't know how to draw in back then.

As you may have guessed, it got rejected. Still, it's kinda entertaining in a "cheese-ball" kind of way, and it's not all bad. I'm pleased with my page compositions, and my designs for "Nobar" and "Mr. Big".

It may not be a "good" comic, but I figured it's worth a blog-post, so please enjoy...

Box-Bot Boogie: Animation Tests. (UPDATED)

UPDATE: I managed to put together something (hopefully) a little more impressive.

Hey everyone. Here are some test animations of Zoki for the upcoming Box-Bot Boogie animated special. It's just a sample walk-cycle (he'll probably have a better walk in the actual film). And, I have it here in both 2D and 3D.

We'll be seeing more animation tests and more sneak peeks of other projects each week, so stay tuned!

And, don't forget, I'm still looking for voice actors.
